old gm building

craigslist and plymouth

I'm acutely aware of my increased consumerism since I've moved into a huge house that I now have to furnish. I am hoping to make up for this vice by purchasing mostly used items. The parlor was in need of a coffee table, so I found one on Craiglist out in Plymouth.

Did you know that there is both an Ann Arbor Road AND an Ann Arbor Trail in Plymouth? This may have caused me to get temporarily lost. Also, WHY? I now personally resent every man, woman, child, and unborn fetus in the city of Plymouth. You aaalllllll suck.

While being lost, I got a good look at some of the ugly-ass late-20th century houses of Plymouth. I'm not a huge fan of the Dutch revival style, but nothing makes you appreciate the real thing more than seeing it utterly bastardized.

The table JUST BARELY fit in my car, but fit it did. I plunked it down in the parlor, and it's just way too massive. I think it overwhelms the room. But eff it, I've made my decision. The table stays. It has cool claw feet.

The final thing this room needs is period-appropriate curtains, but it's not a huge priority. I also need to furnish the main guest room. I'll get a used bed frame for it, but the mattress and box springs will have to be new. Just a couple more pieces of furniture should fill that void in my soul.
