I went to a Detroit Drunken Historical Society lecture yesterday with librarian Sarah, Scott, and his friend Mike. We met up with Allan at the event. The lecture was about Corrado Parducci, a sculptor whose work you definitely know if you like any local architecture. I learned that he had a studio in Corktown on Tenth Street just south of Abbott that would have been torn down for the West Side Industrial Project. That will definitely have to be the subject of a future blog post.
I always see the Mormons around, but they didn't talk to me until today. I was taking a walk in the neighborhood today and three of them on bikes stopped me and gave me a card about Jesus. They asked if I had faith in Jesus, and I told them no. They asked if I "knew anyone in the neighborhood who might be interested," and I told them I only know people who have made up their minds one way or the other. Looking back, I should have given them Kara's address. Heh heh heh...
When I was getting home I walked past the Airbnb guest and her friend, who were on their way to the store. When I went inside there were beans boiling on the stove, which was left on. They weren't gone long, but that's a no-no... Maybe I should get insurance. :D
